Here is the profile of little John "Jake" Aaron or Mason Nicole
That is an elbow behind the mouth. The hand was behind the head.
She also told us that the baby is the size of a soda can, and that the head is up towards my ribs and the butt is down towards my legs. That explains a lot of the movements I feel. Although I know that they change positions pretty frequently now.
Here is the fruit/vegetable update for 19wks
Mango
Vernix caseosa, a greasy white substance made of lanugo, oil and dead skin cells (yum) now coats baby's skin, shielding it from the amniotic fluid. (Picture yourself after a nine-month bath, and the need for protection makes sense.) You might actually get to see the vernix at birth, especially if baby is premature.
And finally I have been doing a little knitting this week. I am really enjoying the knitting group I have joined with a friend on Monday nights. It allows me to get some knitting done, and to have help with any questions during the knitting. The ladies there are really nice and so knowledgeable about knitting. My shorties (shorts knit from wool that go over a cloth diaper, called a soaker) turned out okay. They are kind of messed up, but for my first attempt I think they are pretty good. They have an elastic waistband, and will probably fit between 3 and 6 months.
